1. Who is responsible for your data?
For account, website, security and service-operation data, the data controller is the entity or person operating the Net platform (“Net”, “we”, “us” or “our”). The precise registered legal name and address of that operator should be confirmed in the applicable account or contracting documentation. Contact: net@martinvic.com.ng.
Where a property owner or hotspot operator uses Net to manage its tenants, customers, contribution records or internet packages, that operator will generally determine the purposes for which those individuals’ information is collected. The operator may therefore be the data controller for that information, while Net processes it to provide the Service and may separately act as a controller for security, billing and platform administration. If you are a tenant or hotspot customer, contact the operator that provides your internet service first for questions about its use of your data.
2. Personal data we may collect
Depending on how you use Net, we may process the following categories of information:
- Account and identity data: name, email address, business or property name, account identifier, role and authentication-related records.
- Customer and contribution records: information an operator enters about tenants, residents, hotspot customers, plans, balances, payment dates, receipts and account status.
- Payment and billing data: transaction references, amounts, currency, payment status, timestamps, refunds, fees and reconciliation records supplied by the payment provider. Payment card or bank credentials are handled by the relevant provider where applicable; do not send them to us by email.
- Network and device data: where a supported feature is enabled, network or router identifiers, configuration metadata, service-package assignments, access status, session information and diagnostic logs.
- Technical and usage data: IP address, browser and device information, request logs, error reports, security events, and information about how the website or application is used, where available through normal operation.
- Communications: messages and information you provide when contacting support or responding to service notices.
Please do not submit sensitive personal data unless a feature specifically requires it and you have a lawful basis to do so.
3. Why we use personal data and our lawful bases
Subject to the circumstances, we use personal data to: create and administer accounts; provide operator workspaces and customer portals; maintain contribution, package and transaction records; process and reconcile payments; send account, security, password-recovery and service messages; troubleshoot errors; protect the Service from fraud and unauthorised access; maintain backups; respond to requests; comply with legal obligations; and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Under applicable data-protection law, the relevant lawful basis may include performance of a contract, compliance with a legal obligation, legitimate interests pursued in a proportionate manner, consent where required, or another lawful basis recognised by law. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it, but withdrawal does not affect processing already lawfully carried out or processing that has another lawful basis.
4. Messages and notifications
We may send transactional messages such as account notices, password-recovery links, security alerts, payment confirmations or service-related communications. These are part of operating the Service and are distinct from optional marketing messages. Where marketing communications are introduced, we will provide any choices or consent mechanisms required by law.
5. When we share data
We may share relevant information with service providers that help us host, secure, maintain and deliver Net, including hosting and database infrastructure, email delivery, payment processing, technical support and compatible network integrations. We may also disclose information where necessary to comply with law or a valid legal process, protect rights and safety, investigate fraud or security incidents, or complete a business reorganisation subject to appropriate safeguards.
Payment transactions may be processed by providers such as Paystack or Flutterwave. Their own privacy notices and terms apply to the information they collect directly. Operators may disclose information to their own tenants, customers, staff or authorised representatives through their use of the Service. We do not sell personal data as a business model.
6. International transfers
Our service providers or their infrastructure may process or store data outside your state or country. Where a transfer is subject to data-protection law, we will take steps required by that law, which may include assessing the destination, relying on an appropriate legal transfer mechanism, and applying contractual or technical safeguards. Contact us if you need further information about a relevant transfer.
7. Retention
We retain personal data for no longer than reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, taking account of the nature of the data, the relationship with the user, security needs, applicable legal or accounting requirements, and the establishment or defence of legal claims. Some records may remain in encrypted backups for a limited period after deletion from active systems. Where an operator controls the customer record, that operator is responsible for determining its retention period and issuing deletion instructions where appropriate.
8. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect data against unauthorised access, loss, alteration or disclosure. No online service or transmission method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You must protect your credentials, use secure devices, limit access to authorised personnel and report suspected compromise promptly.
Operators must not expose router administration interfaces to the public internet merely to connect them to Net. Network integrations should use a supported secure connection and least-privilege credentials. Do not send passwords, secret keys or router administrator credentials to our support email.
9. Cookies, local storage and similar technologies
The website may use technologies necessary to maintain sessions, remember security or interface preferences (such as theme choice), and support basic application functionality. Hosting or security infrastructure may also generate technical logs. If optional analytics or advertising technologies are introduced, this Policy and any legally required notice or consent controls will be updated before they are used where required.
10. Your rights
Subject to applicable law and its conditions or exceptions, you may have the right to request information about processing, access your personal data, correct inaccurate or incomplete data, request deletion, restrict or object to certain processing, withdraw consent where consent is the basis, request data portability, and not be subject to certain solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. You may also have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission or another competent supervisory authority.
To make a request about data controlled by Net, email net@martinvic.com.ng and describe the request. We may need to verify your identity and may ask you to contact the relevant operator if it controls the information. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. These rights are not absolute and may be subject to lawful exceptions.
11. Children
Net is designed for property operators, network businesses and their customers, not for children to create independent operator accounts. An operator must comply with applicable law when processing information about a child and must obtain any required authorisation or consent.
12. Third-party websites and services
Links to third-party websites or services are provided for convenience. We do not control their privacy practices. Review the applicable privacy notice before providing information directly to a third party.
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in the Service, our service providers, or applicable law. The effective date at the top indicates the latest revision. Where a material change requires notice, we will take reasonable steps to notify affected users through the Service or by email.
14. Contact and complaints
For privacy questions, data requests or complaints about processing carried out by Net, contact net@martinvic.com.ng. Please avoid including passwords, payment credentials or other unnecessary sensitive information in your message. You may also contact the Nigeria Data Protection Commission where you believe your rights under applicable Nigerian data-protection law have been infringed.
